ACV has made a submission to the Economic Reform Roundtable being held by the Australian Treasury. It makes the following fiscally responsible recommendations to improve the structural position and strengthen the sustainability of Australia’s budget:

  1. Remove the wine equalisation tax and subject wine and other fruit-based alcohol products to the alcohol excise system at an appropriate rate for this category of product.

  2. Maintain indexation on all excisable alcohol products, and do not proceed with the proposed indexation freeze on the draught beer excise.
