Alcohol Change Victoria has made a submission on the review of the Liquor Control Reform (Prohibited Supply) Regulations 2015, which currently prohibit the supply of certain classes of liquor products. These include alcoholic low-fat milk products, alcoholic vapour, certain liquor supplied in flexible tubes, and liquor that is a dry, soluble, concentrated substance (i.e., powdered alcohol). These products should continue to be prohibited given their novelty, potential appeal to young people, and challenges with standard drink labelling and responsible service.
ACV is calling for the trial of a ban on rapid intoxication drinks (e.g., shooters, shots, bombs, test tubes, jelly shots and other similar drinks) between 12am and 5pm, with a thorough evaluation to assess the effectiveness of this measure in reducing alcohol-related harms.
