Alcohol Change Victoria has made a submission to the Commercial Television Industry Code of Practice public consultation.
Proposed changes to the code would extend the times alcohol advertising can be shown to children by more than 800 additional hours per year. To protect children from harmful alcohol marketing, which makes them significantly more likely to start drinking at an early age and at higher risk levels, our submission recommended that the hours during which alcohol can be advertised should not be extended.
ACV member organisations also made their own submissions, including the ADF, CAPR, FARE, Uniting Church in Australia Synod of Victoria and Tasmania, and WRAD Health.
