Developing a new plan for Victoria consultation

Alcohol Change Victoria has made a submission to the Department of Transport and Planning’s consultation for Developing a new plan for Victoria.

We highlighted the work of the CAPR researchers Professor Robin Room, Dr Claire Wilkinson, and Associate Professor Sarah MacLean, who published a paper in 2019 unpacking the issues and challenges faced by local councils when making planning decisions regarding alcohol licencing.

We will continue to advocate for the inclusion of local voices in liquor licencing

decisions, especially in light of recent changes to this process which now remove

the need for a planning permit from local council for on-premise liquor licences.
